The Soldiers’ Solace

Oziel Gómez

Many have paid the ultimate price to ensure the freedoms we so often take for granted. Mind Management Institute provides a safe space for our soldiers who have often been forgotten upon their return home from duty. We aim to restore the peace of mind by assisting veterans in learning mindfulness techniques to help manage some of the harmful effects active duty can have on the mind.

Goals and Objectives

Create psychological safety to process traumas experienced in the line of duty

Assist in developing coping skills including the use of Mindfulness-Based interventions

Provide resources and access to mental health services explicitly created for soldiers

The act of human combat has harmful effects on the mental wellness of those who return home from service. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) embody techniques that assist with the management of depressive and anxious symptomology, which, in the literature, are helpful interventions as adjunctive care (King et al., 2013). Mindfulness-based treatments can assist those who experience PTSD symptoms to explore and combat negative cognitions and learn to focus and be more intentional in daily interactions.
